Summary
Certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or similar.
The bill adds marching band directors and cheerleading coaches to the list of school staff who must take CPR and defibrillator training and hold certification from the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or a similar national group. It also requires every private school and open-enrollment charter school to adopt a policy offering that training to employees and volunteers, not just private schools that got a defibrillator or funding from the state. The change applies starting with the 2025-2026 school year, so more school staff in more schools will be trained and certified.
