THE TEXT

“designed to reduce neuroinflammation and replenish deficient or insufficient brain chemistry to an optimal level”

Bill text, introduced version (I)

The caption reads as general PTSD treatment for veterans, but the text limits grant money to one narrowly described kind of at-home protocol and rules out the standard drug classes. That spec steers the grants toward whatever providers sell that specific approach.

Summary

Grants go to protocols that “replenish deficient or insufficient brain chemistry to an optimal level.”

The bill orders the state health commission, working with a nonprofit veterans group and using money it already has, to run a pilot program that pays grants for at-home treatment plans for at least 250 veterans with PTSD. The treatment must be designed to reduce brain inflammation and restore brain chemistry, and it may not include narcotics, psychedelics or psychotropic medications. The commission must write rules, report results by October 1, 2030, and the program ends September 1, 2031.
